The Development Tarung Derajat in Southeast Asia

Tarung Derajat Institution Center and PB.KODRAT have initiated the process of developing Tarung Derajat to Southeast Asian countriessince 2010, with the aim to be able to be competed at the 2013 Games in Myanmar. It is theunder lying purpose of the opportunities presented by Mrs. Rita Subowo as Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) that Tarung Derajat was selected as the exhibition sport at the SEA Games XXVI- 2011 in Jakarta, on condition that PB.KODRAT and Institution Center should beable to organize south-east Asian countries to follow sports exhibitions Tarung Derajat and as the source offunding for the implementationof this activities do not burden the government and INASOC committee (committee formed by the government and KOI to organize SEAG).

In an effort to gain support for the participants from South-east Asian countries, in August 2010, Tarung Derajat sent 10 delegates consisting of 6 athletes to do the demonstration and 4 PB.KODRAT staffs to approach to the Thai government and sports authorities regarding with the participation of Thailand in assisting the development of Tarung Derajat in south-east Asia.

The meeting was opened with the exhibition techniques of Tarung Derajat in front of sports officials and invited guests, and the demonstration was greeted enthusiastically by the spectators. At the meeting,the Thai government is willing to assist in developing Tarung Derajat in South-east Asia. Considering the short-term development is to performat the 2013 SEA Games Myanmar; and Thailand is Myanmar's closest neighbor in Southeast Asia.

The result of the meeting was Thailand sports officials were going to choose the most suitable person which is considered the character the development and goal of Tarung Derajat.
